The Wide Window – Content Synopsis: Now in the care of a fearful Aunt Josephine, the children live near Lake Lachrymose. Their safety unravels when Count Olaf returns as a sinister sailor and tricks Aunt Josephine into faking her death. The Baudelaires cleverly decode her secret message but are too late to save her. Olaf escapes once more, promising more horrors are to come.

Their troubles deepen when Count Olaf returns in disguise as an eye doctor and hypnotizes Klaus.
